Paula Bullwinkel is a surrealistic and narrative painter. Her women, children and beast-familiars appear in a doppelgänger tableau suggesting an engaging multiverse. Recent solo shows include Transmission Gallery, Oakland, CA, and Coos Art Museum, OR. Bullwinkel was profiled by PBS’s OPB Oregon Art Beat in a nine minute television segment in 2020. Born in Northern California, she spent her childhood making tiny animals in her mom’s ceramic studio, reading classic fairytales, and playing for hours in the woods with her imaginary characters. After 18 years in New York City and London as an editorial fashion photographer, Bullwinkel has spent the last 16 years in the Pacific Northwest and Northern California.
